TEENAGE SMOKERS AND ADULT SMOKERS: WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?
I am doing a small scale study to investigate key differences between adult and adolescent smokers in terms of motivation to smoke and motivation to quit and offering participants a discount on the smoking cessation package that I offer.
Whilst doing research for World No Tobacco Day (31st May), I came across the findings, by Hong Kong University, that the 50% tax increase on cigarettes implemented in 2009 resulted in a 51% drop in smoking amongst adolescents. The study stated “These results reflect that increase in tobacco tax is effective in preventing smoking and encouraging smoking cessation.” (Source: The University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, <a href=”http://www.smokefree.hk/en/content/web.do?page=news20110428″> – accessed 12th May 2011). The same study found that the smoking ban of 2007 also discouraged teenagers from smoking. I am curious to find out whether the rising costs of smoking and the ban on smoking in public places are equally effective as deterrents for adults.
Hong Kong Hypnotherapy is inviting both adult and adolescent smokers to complete a short questionnaire on their smoking habit and the reasons for both continuing to smoke and wanting to quit. In return, all participants will be eligible for a discount of over 20% on the smoking cessation package offered by Hong Kong Hypnotherapy (subject to availability) when their first session is scheduled for the week around World No Tobacco Day, that is 29th May – 5th June inclusive.
The results of the study will be published initially on this website. All names and identifying information will be removed to maintain anonymity.
If you would like to take part in the survey and receive a discount on the smoking cessation package (bringing the cost down to $2200 for the two sessions) between 29th May and 5th June inclusive (subject to availability), just contact me through enquiries@hongkonghypnotherapy.com and I will send you your copy of the questionnaire and book you in for a discounted smoking cessation package (subject to availability of session times).
Thanks,
Fiona
